Becoming a Person of Influence

Becoming a Person of Influence is a foundational text for anyone who aspires to grow as a leader. Written in tandem by Dr. John C. Maxwell and Jim Dornan, the book spells out ten fundamental qualities that define influencers. The authors carefully point out that a person’s influence does not develop overnight, but rather through a progression of four stages: modeling, motivating, mentoring, and multiplying. Influence can be acquired, but it only grows in increments. The good news is that no matter where you stand on the stairway of influence, there are learnable qualities to help you climb to the next step.

Weekly Mastermind groups are facilitated group discussions. We  not lecture or teach the group, but encouraging members to discuss what they have been learning. Each week we each person will be given the opportunity to share their own reflections, experiences, and questions. The following structure is typical:

Opening Question – Questions to begin discussion

Facilitation Questions – These questions are designed to foster discussion by the group about the major concepts from each chapter.

Wrap-up – Summarize and positively reinforce the ideas at the end of the Mastermind session.

The Weekly Challenge – Group members’ share how they are going to apply the concept that week into their personal life somehow during the week.
